frequently asked questions
Fat content is really key to giving brownies that fudgy texture. The oil in this recipe helps to create a texture that is fudgy and dense.
You can! Freezing brownies for later is a great way to get to enjoy them again. Remember to let the brownies cool down completely before storing them in a freezer-safe bag. As long as they’re sealed, they should last for up to 2 months in the freezer.
You may have cooked the brownies for too long in the oven. Overcooked brownies tend to be dried out and have a crumbly texture rather than a dense and moist one.
Sprinkles are always fun and a great way to change up the look. However, frosting and even a glaze are great, too! You can even melt chocolate chips and drizzle some of that melted chocolate right on top as well.
Have fun making these Valentine’s Day brownies! They’re a simple and easy brownie recipe that you can share with your loved ones! Everyone knows that the way to ANYONE’S heart is through their stomach so this recipe for homemade brownies is perfect!

- ½ cup chocolate chips

- Add the cocoa powder, flour and salt and stir until thoroughly combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and use a spatula to smooth the top. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with only a few crumbs. It’s better to under bake the brownies than to overbake them.

i just made these and WOW! definitely cook for 20 minutes – worked perfectly for me. gooey and rich. i used only 1 cup of sugar and it was the right amount of sweetness. no more store brought brownie mixes for me!
So glad you liked the brownies!
These brownies were excellent. Only problem was that they were crumbly. Any idea what could have gone wrong? I waited 30 minutes before slicing.
Also for 9 by 13 pan what would be the bake time and would double quantity work?
Thank you so much, Hina. I am glad you enjoyed them. If the brownies turned out crumbly, they might have gotten a tad bit overcooked. Every oven is different. Is it possible yours runs a little hot? Yes, you can use a 9 x 13 and double the recipe. As far as bake time goes, I’d start checking it at around 27 minutes. If a toothpick comes out with a few little crumbs, it’s done. If it comes out wet, then bake for another 3 minutes and then pull it from the oven.
I made these brownies today and wallahi they were the best brownies that I have ever made! Great recipe! Thank you so much!
That’s amazing! You’re so welcome!!
I made this today and they came out soo good and had very easy ingredients.
That’s exactly what I was going for! Yay!!
I made them and they were so delicious and fudgy! They came out very dark because I live in Turkey, and I think the cocoa powder is a little different here than in the US. Will use a little less cocoa powder next time, but even tho they looked black they still tasted amazing! Thank you for the recipe!
Glad you enjoyed! Let me know what you think if you give it another go that way. Happy to have shared the recipe!
I just discovered your website because I was looking for a lemony chicken rice soup recipe. I’ll be making yours tonight. In searching through your recipes, I found this Valentine Brownie. I was surprised it doesn’t have any baking soda or baking powder. Is that okay?
Can’t wait for you to try the recipe! Yes, it is okay.
Such delicious brownies! I didn’t follow the recipe to a T, I used What I had in the house: regular Granulated sugar, vanilla Greek yogurt. I will definitely make them again, but may skip the chocolate chips and reduce the sugar.
Great idea! So glad you tried them!
