Halloween Theme Food is so much fun in October especially if you have little kids. While many treats have unnatural dyes and preservatives in them, it’s really easy to include fruits and vegetables and healthy ingredients to make homemade halloween treats for your kids. Bananas are my favorite to use! Check out my 4 banana Halloween treats below 🙂
All you need for these halloween theme food ideas are bananas, pantry items like chocolate, peanut butter butter, chocolate chips and simple craft objects like lollipop sticks, toothpicks and wooden sticks. You don’t have to be crafty at all or have a lot of time on your hands to pull these off!
Frozen Boo Nana Pops
To make these frozen Boo Nana Pops, you’ll need one banana, 1 cup of white chocolate chips, 8 mini chocolate chips and 4 wooden sticks. You can double or triple the recipe as necessary.
- Cut banana in half lengthwise and then slice in half to make four quarters. Insert popsicle sticks into cut end of bananas, and freeze bananas on baking sheet lined with parchment paper for up to 2 hours.
- When the bananas are frozen, place the white chocolate chips in a cup and melt in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds.
- Dip the bananas one at a time into the chocolate, scraping off the excess chocolate from the back of the banana, and place it on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.
- Quickly add the chocolate chips for the eyes before the chocolate hardens.
Monster Banana Bites
To make these monster banana bites, you’ll need a banana, lollipop sticks, 1 cup white and/or dark chocolate and 1 teaspoon coconut oil to melt with the chocolate. You’ll also need edible candy eyes that you can find at most craft stores and even places like Target around Halloween.
- Heat the white chocolate chips in one bowl (you can add ½ a teaspoon of coconut oil to the mix), until melted. Heat the semi sweet chocolate in another bowl, until melted.
- Cut the banana in ½ inch slices.
- Use a fork to dip each banana slice in the melted chocolate, allowing any excess chocolate to drip off. Place the chocolate coated bananas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place some candy eyes and a popsicle and place the baking sheet in the freezer to set, about 3 hours.
Monster Eye Roll-Ups
My next Halloween themed food is Monster Eye Roll-Ups. To make these, you just need a tortilla, a banana, some peanut butter, some jelly along with candy eyes and appetizer toothpicks. Those are a little larger than regular toothpicks and will work better for merging two monster eye roll-ups together.
- Heat tortilla in microwave until soft and pliable. This will help it roll up easier.
- Spread peanut butter on the tortilla and then spread the jelly on top. Place peeled banana in the middle.
- Roll the banana and tortilla together. Slice into quarters. Place two of the roll-ups on a small toothpick. Use candy eye as garnish. It’s ok if these get messy and you get blood (ihhhmmm jelly) everywhere!
Ghost Bananas & Tangerine Pumpkins
The most popular halloween themed food is probably the ghost bananas with the tangerine pumpkins. These are the classic Halloween themed food for children and they are the easiest ones to make. You’ll need some bananas and chocolate chips for the ghost bananas. And you’ll need tangerine and celery sticks for the tangerine pumpkins.
- Cut the bananas in lengthwise. You can also slice them in half to make four quarters if you’d like to make them smaller. Place two chocolate chips towards to the top of the bananas to set the eyes.
- Peel the tangerines and remove as much white pith as possible. Insert the cut celery and insert into the peeled tangerines.
These Banana Halloween Themed Food are super fun for kids to have at school, home or a party. I love that they’re healthy, easy to put together and give the kids a yummy treat while being festive
